The Solar shop roaster is intended for those who are passionate about roasting their own coffee but don't have the time, money or inclination to become a roast master. Roasting coffee in a small batch traditional machine requires incredible skill, attention and lots and lots of time. With Solar we have done the hard work so you can get on with running your business.
Solar focuses on 5 core roasting competencies:
1. Performance. Three 1000W electric heating elements meticulously placed below a perforated drum.
2. Accuracy. Advanced management software controlled by bean temperature and a Siemens Programmable Logic Controller.
3. Stability. Four methods of thermal treatment. Conduction, convection, thermosiphonic and infrared.
4. Balance. Two methods of coffee roasting: Drum conduction and hot air convection.
5. Consistency. Periodic fluid bed roasting controlled by a central blower motor beneath the drum.

Solar is completely standalone and requires no PC connection. Our roasting management software is embedded into the machine’s core and is controlled by an inboard computer. Setting, starting and stopping a roast is as simple as pushing a button. In drum cooling will activate once the roast is complete and will alert you to drop your beautiful beans into the cooling tray to finish.
Virtually maintenance free.
Solar uses zero consumable components and requires the simplest of cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules. We even use thumb-nuts for quick and easy release on the detachable parts of the machine. No need for special solvents, tools or technical know-how in order to keep the Solar up and running for years to come.
As much as you can.
The Solar has the theoretical capability to roast continuously 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Many of our customers will use the Solar in order to roast up to 200kg a month. As long as basic cleaning, safety standards and maintenance is upheld the Solar is good to go regardless of roast capacity.
Most installations simply require a duct connected to the Solar exhaust that will vent through an external flue. If this is not possible we have you covered with the optional Avirnaki. Avirnaki is our smokeless roasting system that doubles as a cart for the Solar to create an all inclusive roasting system. It’s simple, easy to use, and allows roasting for anyone, anywhere, anytime.
